Progress Energy is working closely with the state of Florida to research hydrogen as a fuel source. Progress Energy is using hydrogen technology to power cars and provide electricity at sites in the state.
As the most abundant element in the universe, hydrogen has potential as an alternative source of energy. Specifically, hydrogen gas can be stripped from substances such as water or natural gas and used in a hydrogen fuel cell to make electricity.
