Second Stage of Protection:

The second stage in this layered, or staged, protection system is premium plug-in protectors. Plug-in protectors are additional protection necessary for sensitive electronic equipment. Unlike our meter-base protector, which offers protection from powerful surges, our premium plug-in protectors are designed to stop the small portion of surges that may not be blocked by the meter-base protector alone.
To achieve optimum protection, Progress Energy recommends that plug-in protectors be used in conjunction with the meter-base protector.
