Lower your air conditioning costs and qualify for an additional incentive when you install a reflective roof product on your home. By reflecting the sun’s heat off of the roof, the product reduces the heat coming into your home – and reduces the amount of time your air conditioner runs.

Visit energystar.gov to learn more about energy-saving reflective roofing products and coatings

How Do I Qualify?

  • Complete a Home Energy Check before installation of the energy saving measure.
  • Roofing product must be installed in accordance with Progress Energy standards and by a contractor meeting all Progress Energy requirements
  • The residence must have whole-house electric air conditioning
  • The reflective material must be certified and approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an ENERGY STAR roofing product
  • Partial installations are not eligible
  • Other restrictions may apply

* Customers may want to check with their homeowner’s association before making exterior improvements to the home

What Incentives Are Available?

  • Single-Family Home - 15¢ per square foot, up to $150 for installation of reflective roof material.  Qualified roofing material ratings have an Initial Solar Reflectance greater than or equal to 0.25.
  • Manufactured Home - $40 for installation of reflective roof material.  Qualified roofing material ratings have an Initial Solar Reflectance greater than or equal to 0.70.
