Demand Side Management/Energy Efficiency Program: “Opt out” Provision

North Carolina’s new Energy Statutes (ratified as Session Law 2007-397 in August 2007) encourage the electric utilities across the state to establish Demand Side Management (DSM) and Energy Efficiency (EE) programs for their customers. The cost of these programs will be shared among our customers. However, the Energy Statutes also provide the opportunity for certain customers to be eligible to “opt out” of participating in the DSM/EE programs and avoid these charges.

At this site, you will find information on how to determine if your account(s) is/are eligible to opt out of the DSM/EE programs and the process to follow to notify PEC if you would like to request to opt out.

If you have additional questions, these faq  may be helpful.

Opt Out Template:

If you desire to opt out any or all of your eligible accounts, please complete the template below and send to PEC.

If you have additional questions about this matter, please contact your Progress Energy Account Executive or call 1-888-326-3344 for more information.
